    Mary Rachel Cooper Taylor, age 84, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Autumn Care of Marion.  A native of Burnsville, she was born on June 16, 1932 to the late Oscar C. Cooper and Mary Robinson Cooper.  Mary Rachel retired from Parker Hosiery in Old Fort.  She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.  A daughter, Veda Anne Anderson preceded her in death.

    Surviving are two grandchildren, Amy Kristine and Joshua S. Anderson; a brother, Arnold A. Cooper; three nieces, Marilyn Garber, Jane Slate Cooper and Gayla Eichorn, as well as a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; and close friends, Lucy Evans, Lois Glisson, Louise Taylor and Patsy Padgett.

    A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Service and Cremations in Old Fort with Rev. Ken Page officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Bethlehem Community Cemetery in Old Fort.  Flowers are appreciated, however, those desiring to make a memorial contribution in her memory are encouraged to consider the American Heart Association at PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058, or, to the American Diabetes Association at 16-A Brozzini Court, Greenville, SC 29615.
