Jerald McCormick

February 24, 1969 ~ April 1, 2018 (age 49)



Mr. Jerald McCormick, age 49, of Nebo, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side following a two year battle with Leukemia. Jerald was born in McDowell County on February 24, 1969 to Doug and Liz McCormick. Family was everything to this man, who always made time for them.

Jerald was a volunteer fireman with the Glenwood Fire Department for 15 years. He played bass in multiple bands, which included three Gospel bands, The Seekers, The Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and New Creations, and in two Country bands, Midnight Ramblin, and Tonya Grant and Branded Band. He was a hard worker, and was considered an expert heavy equipment operator. Jerald was strong in his faith, a loving husband, great father, loving son and brother.  Jerald was the life of the party with a smile on his face and a true friend to many. Preceding him in death is a brother, Jamie McCormick.

In addition to his parents Jerald leaves behind his beloved wife, Melissa McCormick of 27 years; three children, son Patrick McCormick of Marion, daughter Hope McCormick of Nebo, and a daughter Kasey McCormick Loesekann and husband Zach of Marion; a brother, Doug McCormick Jr and wife Denise of Glenwood, a sister Susan McCormick Epley and husband Joe of Glenwood, and brother Jason McCormick and wife Rachel of Glenwood; and a granddaughter, Bailee Grace McPeters.

The family will receive friends at Glenwood Baptist Church in Glenwood on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Glenwood Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 with a friend of Brother Jerald, Dr. Dennis Love officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Baptist Hospital Office of Philanthropy, Dr. Pardee Research, PO Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.
