Dollie Blankenship Brown is now at peace with her Heavenly Father at the age of 86. Dollie, of Old Fort, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 with family by her side. She was born in McDowell County on March 14, 1934 to the late Mamie Leister. Dollie attended Faith Tabernacle Church with her daughter Darlene when she was able to go. She retired from Old Fort Finishing. Dollie enjoyed working in her flower garden and had a real green thumb. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Andy and Mannie Blankenship; a husband, Fred Brown; two sons, Donald and Richard Brown; daughter, Loretta Kilpatrick, and a sister, Maryetta McKinney.
Left to cherish Dollie’s memory are three children, Ronnie Brown (Betty) of Marion, Tina Parker (Roy) of Nebo, and Darlene Hines (Bill) of Old Fort; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Harold Davis and Charles Strickland officiating. The service will be recorded and published on Dollie’s obituary page. A private committal service will be held at North Cove Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Fred. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills at 374 Hudlow Rd, Forest City, NC 28043.
